Hello Pathfinder Families:

I neglected to include this in the last Compass newsletter.  Please see below for an awesome summer opportunity!

Hello everyone,

My name is Fred Ligrow and I am the current Girls JV Basketball Coach in Pinckney.  I'm excited to share a new opportunity for our incoming 6th-8th grade girls basketball community!  I received your email addresses from Coach Shafer and Wardlow in the middle school program, as well as Jarrett Cogswell, a 5th grade teacher who worked with our 6th grade team this year.

The purpose of the program is to start teaching essential skills and concepts needed to be a competitive basketball player.  Each session, players will work on skill development, engage in small-sided games (1 v 1, 2 v 2, etc) to apply skills and concepts, and also scrimmage 5 on 5.  Because consistency is the key to growth, instead of being a 1 week camp, we will meet twice per week for 6 weeks over the summer!

We are hoping that at least 10 girls from each grade register so we can practice and scrimmage.  We have the entire high school gym signed out so 6th, 7th, and 8th grade each have their own court to practice on.  Coach Jon Daniels, our Varsity Girls Assistant Coach, will be working with next year's 6th grade.  Jarrett Cogswell, former Varsity Girls Coach, will work with next year's 7th grade and I will be working with our incoming 8th graders.  We will also have 2-3 Varsity Girls Players there to help assist our training sessions.

My background includes coaching 8th grade boys and girls in Dexter, where I have been a 5th and 6th Grade PE Teacher for the past 23 years.  I also coached Girls Freshman and JV Girls Basketball in Dexter for about 10 years before stepping down to have the opportunity to work with my own kids here in Pinckney.  Krissy played 2 years of college basketball and currently runs her own in-home daycare.  Together we have 3 girls.  Alivia is currently a Freshman at SVSU studying Occupational Therapy and is a member of the Girls Golf Team, Kenzie is a current junior on the dance and basketball team, and Camryn is a current 8th grader who runs XC and plays basketball.

Attached are both a flier and registration form for you.  Times, dates and cost are all included on the flier.  All registration forms are to be turned in to Jarrett Cogswell, 5th grade teacher at Navigator.  Please feel free to forward this information on to anyone you think may be interested and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.  Looking forward to getting in the gym this summer!  Take care,

Fred Ligrow
