Hello Pirate Family and Happy "I Have a Dream" Friday!
As we wrap up with what became an unexpectedly shortened week with yesterday's snow day, we are looking forward to another four day week as school will be closed on Monday, January 19 in observance of MLK Day. I am proud to say that Martin Luther King Jr.’s influence continues to not only shape our nation through his unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and nonviolence, but has truly become the foundation of our work with the Positivity Project as many of the key character traits relate directly to his teachings.
His powerful words and courageous actions challenged systems of injustice and inspired people to stand up for what is right with dignity and hope. For our Pinckney Pirates, Dr. King’s legacy continues to encourage them to lead with empathy, bravery, integrity, humility, standing up for others, and believing in their ability to make a positive difference in their school and community. His example reminds our Pirates that their voices matter and that kindness, courage, and perseverance can help create a more just and inclusive world. 🏴☠️
While the next school year may feel far off, preparations are already underway for our Kindergarten (and Pre-School) Roundup event! Mark your calendars for February 25, when the event will take place at both Country and Farley Hill Elementary. Check out the flyer below for all the details, and don't hesitate to share it with others!
I am proud to share the January edition of the LINK Connection Newsletter as we recognize Brian Widner who has continued to demonstrate a high level of perseverance and determination in working toward his high school diploma. Great job Brian and we have no doubt that you've got this!! GO PIRATES!! 🏴☠️

Every month, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Basia Kiehler and I have the opportunity to spend time with the PCHS Leadership class, focusing on meaningful lessons in leadership while incorporating Positivity Project themes. This past Wednesday, we shared a lesson and video that explored the challenges of chasing happiness, and I was incredibly proud of the thoughtful engagement our students demonstrated. They actively reflected on their learning about the SPIRE model, which breaks happiness into five key elements: Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Relational, and Emotional. Watching this outstanding group of student leaders grow, reflect, and mature right before our eyes is truly inspiring. GO PIRATES!! 🏴☠️
It is looking like we are heading into an arctic freeze this weekend with more snow on the way, which means that it may be the perfect excuse to find your favorite blanket and cozy up on the couch to binge watch your favorite show, watch a movie, read a book or watch some playoff football (if you can stomach it without the Lions 🤬). We do hope you enjoy the three day weekend and once again, thank you for your support and partnership as we appreciate you! GO PIRATES!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️
