Hello Pirate Families and Happy "Only 5 more weeks" Friday!

It's hard to believe we've already reached May! True to the saying, "April showers bring May flowers," everything seems to be blooming all at once. The burst of color and beauty is a welcome sight—but for those of us with allergies, it's also brought runny noses and itchy eyes. Still, as they say, you have to take the good with the bad 🤧!

Although we are only five weeks away from the last day of school, our Senior Class of 2025 are just three weeks away from their last day in which their focus will turn to graduation preparation. On Wednesday evening, 25 of our top senior scholars were celebrated at Lakeland Country Club for their exceptional academic achievements. In addition to being honored, each scholar had the meaningful opportunity to recognize a special guest who played a significant role in their journey to success.
As educators and parents, we understand that student success is shaped by the encouragement and guidance of many caring adults. We are deeply grateful to all those who have supported and inspired our scholars along the way. Way to go, Pirates!

We have exciting news from Farley Hill Elementary. Please join us in welcoming Danielle Birdyshaw as the new Principal of Farley Hill! As many are aware, Yvonne Taylor announced her retirement earlier this year after an incredible career of teaching, leading, and wholeheartedly serving our Pirate community. Finding someone to step into her shoes was no easy task, but after speaking with Danielle earlier this week, even Mrs. Taylor agrees that Ms. Birdyshaw will be a wonderful fit for Farley Hill’s students, staff, and families.

Ms. Birdyshaw brings a deep well of experience and passion to the role. She has served as an instructional coach in Novi for 10 years, led their summer school program as principal, and has also worked as an MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) coach. In addition, she’s supported GSRP/Head Start Preschool programs and is currently a kindergarten teacher in Farmington.

Ms. Birdyshaw's appointment will become official with Board approval on May 12, and she plans to spend the coming months connecting with the Farley Hill community and working closely with Mrs. Taylor to ensure a smooth and supportive transition.

As we prepare to celebrate Yvonne’s remarkable contributions, we are equally excited to welcome Ms. Birdyshaw to our team. Please join me in extending a warm Pirate welcome! 🏴‍☠️

We are excited to share the upcoming Pinckney Pup Run & Walk, a 5k run/walk that is being organized by our amazing elementary PTOs in support of our PCS therapy dogs. The event will take place at Pinckney Community High School on Saturday, June 7 at 9:30am. Registration info can be accessed below using the QR code, along with a link to make a donation. The funds raised will support the ongoing costs associated with keeping our Pirate Therapy Dogs healthy and safe (vet bills, food, grooming, etc.).

Our Pathfinder 8th graders spent the past week exploring our nation’s capital, and once again, we’re incredibly proud of the way they represented our district and community. The feedback we've received about their conduct, respect, and sense of national pride has been outstanding. One of the tour guides even texted, "You all are teaching those kids right." A highlight of the trip was the unique opportunity to meet and speak with several active-duty Marines at the Iwo Jima Memorial—an experience our students won’t soon forget. We couldn’t be prouder!
