Hello Pirate Family and Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Although we are entering the "unofficial" start of summer this weekend, this past week couldn't have been more beautiful and summer-like and as we know here in Pinckney/Hamburg, summer begins the moment we can get the boat in the water and given how many I saw in the lakes last weekend, summer is well on its way!

As we enter this weekend that often includes time to work in the yard, a barbeque with family & friends or maybe a trip up north to relax, I do hope we can all take time to reflect on why we have this opportunity to enjoy the freedoms and blessings we are given in this country as they don't come without a price. Many in our Pirate community have been impacted directly by the loss of a United States Service Member and we should never lose sight of the significance of this sacrifice as once again, our Freedom is not Free

Our district, community and national pride is strong here in Pirate Nation and I do encourage everyone to join us in the Village of Hamburg at 10am and/or the Village of Pinckney at 1pm for Memorial Day Parades that will also include honorary ceremonies in tribute of those who have lost their lives while serving our great nation. There is nothing like a "true" small town parade that is draped in pride, unity and respect.

I also would like to share the following video (3:50) that provides a visual tribute of reflection and honor that would be good to share with your children, especially our 8th graders who recently went to Washington DC as they will recognize many of the places showcased in the video.

When our students and staff return next Tuesday, we will only have 6 1/2 days left of school (crazy, right??) and we are looking forward to celebrating each day together, signing yearbooks, participating in field day events, end of year award ceremonies and for our seniors, the traditional "Clap out", which will be occurring Thursday morning after they complete graduation rehearsal.

I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, enjoyable and reflective holiday weekend and we look forward to seeing our Pirates back on Tuesday. May God bless our Pirate Nation, our military members/families and the United States of America! 🏴‍☠️🇺🇸
