Hello Pirate Family and Happy "Is it time to build an Ark" Friday?
As they say, "You have to learn to take the good with the bad", which definitely holds true this week as the temps (and humidity) felt more like summer, but with that has brought a week of intense rain and for many of our fellow Michiganders, some serious flooding and household issues that often come with this amount of water, which we have unfortunately been experiencing here at PCS as well. On the bright side, this rain is helping everything to "pop" and the need to begin cutting the grass every weekend is quickly approaching😔.
Despite the rain this week, we have been able to get in many of our athletic events, with the highlight this week occurring at Tuesday's home track meet against Jackson in which PCHS junior, Jaelyn Rae, became only the fourth female runner in Livingston County to break the 5-minute mark in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:56:99. Jae's time also set a new PCS record and although this is already an amazing feat, I have no doubt she will be looking to shave off another second or two as she looks to set the record for the fastest time in Livingston County history! Way to go Jaelyn and LET'S GO PIRATES!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️
I want to thank Navigator music teacher, Ms. Rachael Green for showcasing the hard work and talent of our students this week with the Spring Music Showcase, that includes displaying many pieces of student art and student digital interest slides throughout the lobby of the Jane Tasch (thank you Mrs. Shappell and Mr. Chambless!). Great job Pirates!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️
I am proud as always to share the monthly LINK newsletter as we highlight another great student, Alexa Burianek, who demonstrates perseverance, resilience and grit as she continues to shine!

We have been so fortunate to continue providing our students the opportunity to grow as leaders through our partnership with the
Reaching Higher organization and once, we are excited to provide a couple summer opportunities to our younger students through two Leadership Camps. Please review the flyer below for more info and please don't hesitate to reach out to Basia Kiehler at
bkie...@pinckneypirates.org if you have any questions.

Staying with the summer camp theme, our very own Pirate Summer Camp is now open for registration, which can be done by clicking HERE for students from Preschool through 6th grade. Pirate Summer Camp is committed to providing a safe and caring environment where children will learn, grow, make friends, and of course, have fun! Each week of activities is planned with a different theme in mind, from superheroes and outer space to pirate luaus and more. Children will spend their days exploring, investigating and developing new competencies with our dedicated staff. Your children can look forward to a summer filled with arts and crafts, sports/fitness, technology time, outdoor adventures, and some special Pirate Camp surprises. Above all, we hope that this summer will be a memorable one for your children.
I have also attached the calendar of events for the summer that our Pirates will be engaged with that may be helpful in making the best decision for your child. Any questions can be directed to Brian Wardlow at bwar...@pinckneypirates.org.
Thank you for being such an important part of our success here at PCS as the partnership we have with our parents and community is never taken for granted. Have a great weekend and given it looks like more rain is coming on Saturday, we may have to begin planning for that Ark!
