Hello Pirate Families and Happy "Say it ain't snow" Friday!
We have been blessed with some beautiful fall days these past few weeks, but the reality of winter approaching is becoming more and more real as the forecast for this weekend and early next week contains that dreaded four letter word, S-N-O-W ! 🌨️👎 Although the amounts predicted are extremely minimal and SHOULD NOT cause anyone to ask me for a snow day😉. With that being said, it is a good time for me to share the protocol used to notify our community when a school closure is necessary as it is not unusual to have some significant snow during the fall season. When the decision is made to close school, parents, students & staff will be notified using the following processes:
1. District Wide Text
2. Email
3. Robocall
4. District Facebook Post
5. PCS Website Post
6. WHMI - Posted on their website, FB page and on radio
7. Metro Detroit News Outlets (Channel 2, 4 & 7) - Posted on their website and on TV (the old school way!)
It is important that parents have their correct information listed in their student's portal on Mistar, along with the "texting" option checked to ensure we have the most updated information to ensure the texts and phone calls are delivered. When school is closed, all community education programs are also cancelled, however, we do evaluate whether athletic events will continue as there are several factors that play into those decisions as often, conditions can improve dramatically by the afternoon/evening and rescheduling can be extremely challenging, but as always, the safety of everyone is always at the forefront of any decision we make.
Congratulations to our Pirates for a great day at the MHSAA Cross Country Finals this past Saturday as the Boys placed 10th overall, our Girls 7th overall, with PCHS Junior Jaelyn Ray finishing as the 5th best girl in Division 2! Although these are some great accomplishments, I know our Pirates are not satisfied and will come back even stronger next season. Great job and GO PIRATES!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️
Next Tuesday, November 11 is a day in which our nation will honor all of the amazing, courageous and brave men and women who have served our great nation through their service in the military. I know we have many Veterans who are part of our Pirate family, including staff, parents and community members and I just want to say "Thank You!" for making the sacrifice and commitment in ensuring our freedoms as a nation are protected as the life we are able to live here in the U.S. would not be possible if not for those who have served. May God Bless our Veterans and the United States of America! 🇺🇸

As we have shared in previously communications, our PCHS Leadership Class is working hard to raise the $11,250 needed for Operation Christmas Wishes and as part of their efforts, they are hosting a "Parents Night Out" event at Navigator on Saturday, November 15th, from 5:00–9:00 PM. Parents of students in grades K–5 will be able to drop off their children for a fun evening filled with activities such as an open gym, crafts, snacks, and more. We hope our community can help support this amazing group of PCHS student leaders by taking advantage of this opportunity!

Please see the LInk Connection newsletter below that highlights Maddi Walker, who has proven herself to be such a hard worker and is determined to achieve her goals!
Hoping everyone has a great weekend and for our parents of elementary students, you may want to start digging out those hats, gloves and winter jackets for early next week as the wind chill may be as low as 10 degrees 🥶 which will make for some cold bus stops and playgrounds. And for our middle and high school students, having them wear pants and a hoodie would be considered a victory 😉! Thank you Pirate family as we appreciate you! GO PIRATES!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️
