Hello all,

I've noticed (and it appears to be a recent change) that the currency settings on the 'Payout Details' screen of the Express Onboarding seem to be behaving incorrectly.

Previously, if the United Kingdom was selected as the country in which the applicant's business would legally operate the 'Payout Details' input screen would default their payout currency to GBP (£).

It now defaults to EUR (€) - see screenshots below. It can be changed to GBP (£) but this seems unnecessary.

Is anyone aware of why this is the case? It used to default to GBP (£).

Is there a configuration change needed in the Dashboard?

Hello Chris,

Thanks for the detailed report on that one. I can reproduce on my end and I've flagged to the engineering team to have a look internally. I'll circle back on list once this is fixed!

Best,
Remi

Hi Remi,

Just checking in to see whether you have any update on this issue?

Do you know if Euro (€) being selected as the default currency for a UK based 'Connected Account' is deliberate or a bug?

If it's deliberate it would be very useful to understand the thinking behind this choice so we can explain it to our sellers.

Thanks

Chris

Hello,

I wouldn't call it a bug per se and more an oversight. It's on our radar and something we want to fix in the near future but no update for now. It's on the team's roadmap (and I just flagged again) but it's a bit of an edge-case compared to other things we're working on fixing.

I'll circle back once it's fixed though!
Best,
Remi

Hi Remi,

We've been running through a detailed UAT process and this does cause confusion for users - we regularly see UK testers miss the currency prompt and leave 'EURO(€)' as their payout currency rather than selecting 'GBP(£)'.

Even in cases where they spot that the currency has defaulted incorrectly Euro(€) it causes them to question whether they've made a mistake earlier in the onboarding (e.g. selecting the wrong country of operation).

I clearly don't know your systems in detail, but I assume this should be a fairly easy correction from a developer perspective.

Please could you provide the above feedback to the developers and push for a correction?

Thanks for your help

Chris

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the additional feedback! I've just raised it with the team again but I'd recommend that you also go through our support team directly for something like this: https://support.stripe.com/contact

I'll circle back once I have an update though!
Best,
Remi

Hey Chris,

I wanted to circle back on this issue to confirm that we just pushed a fix for this issue earlier today. I have tested this locally and I see GBP as the default currency for accounts that are UK-based now.

I'm really sorry it took us so long to prioritize this fix and get it right but I do hope that improves your users' experience moving forward!

Let me know if you need anything else!
Remi

Thanks for circling back on this Remi - I can confirm it's working when we tested too.

Much appreciated!

Chris
