Title: Approximating reals and trigonometry on programmable dataplanes
Abstract:
  Functions over real numbers have several applications in various
  domains--such as for "distance measuring" in analytics, cybersecurity and ML.
  But representing and using these functions at scale on programmable
  dataplanes is challenging: programmable switch ASICs have scarce
  computing and memory resource, and lack an on-chip FPU.
  In this presentation we demonstrate how we managed to get around this
  problem in BMv2 to implement functions like cos and log, and will
  discuss ongoing work to port this to Tofino hardware.

There was a topic that came up at the 2022-Jun-06 language design work group meeting: p4c version numbers and release schedule.  If we have a quorum of people interested in the topic, we can have a discussion on that topic.  Mihai Budiu may be on vacation, so we may not make any decisions binding on the p4lang/p4c repo commits in his absence, but perhaps we can arrive at some recommended actions.
