Sorry for short notice on this meeting's special topic. Hopefully we get a decent quorum among folks interested in this topic able to attend, but note that this is unlikely to be the last/"deciding' meeting on what P4 language changes, if any, are made. That would happen at one of the regularly scheduled P4 language design work group meetings, later, after a careful written-up proposal is created and reviewed, which will NOT be presented during this meeting.
The purpose of this meeting is to share the results of the survey (see below), and to discuss next steps.
I sent out a list of survey questions early in 2023-Nov. The link below contains the raw answers (no names or identifying information was recorded from those who responded), and summaries of counts of yes/no answers:
I do not think language designers should necessarily slavishly follow such survey results, but they may find it interesting in knowing what kinds of language features some people desire.
