YOUR FUTURE SELF WILL THANK YOU!
On
Thursday, September 11, 2025, we’re taking over the SePRO Research and Technology Campus in Whitakers, NC, for a full day of lake and pond wisdom—with just enough lake jokes and camaraderie to keep things lively.
We’ll start with registration and light refreshments (coffee, OJ, maybe even a pastry that’s
too good for its own good). Then NCLMS President-elect Rory Roten will kick things off before we dive head-first into the
Importance of Formulations with Ben Willis, explore nutrient sources and harmful algal blooms with Dr. Amy Grogan, and get a genetics crash course from Chase Kilgore.
After a quick break to stretch, mingle, and maybe brag about your last fish story, we’ll be back with Dr. Rob Richardson’s extension
insights, Sam Sardes’s real-world algae management tips, and more from Ben Willis on chelations and tank mixing.
A provided lunch will fuel us up before our annual business meeting and elections (democracy, lake-style). Then comes the fun
part—rotating hands-on groups: algae adventures with Mya Espinosa, aquatic vegetation talk with Kara Foley, and an electrofishing session with Jaime Fullerton that will literally make sparks fly.
We’ll close with Jason Scott’s
Laboratory for the Real World—the kind of session where you leave saying, “I’m totally trying that back at the office.”
🚨
Heads-up: Our main website is taking an unscheduled nap, so the ONLY way to
register is through the link in this email. Don’t wait—your future self will thank you.
