Good afternoon, everyone,
I am writing to let you know that pursuant to Section 205(j)/604(b) of the Clean Water Act, the DEQ Division of Water Resources is seeking proposals for water quality planning projects using federal fiscal year 2025 grant funds.
North Carolina is receiving extra 205(j) funding for FY2022 through FY2026 through the federal Infrastructure, Investment, & Jobs Act (IIJA), so we are looking forward to passing through approximately $550,000 to Regional Commissions and Councils of Government. Accordingly, we encourage the development of larger projects with higher funding requests to meet your local and regional water quality planning needs.
While only Regional Councils of Government (COGs)/Regional Planning Organizations are eligible to apply for 205(j) grants, COGs may partner with any public or private sector organization to implement projects.
Applications are due by midnight on Sept. 18, 2025; all application materials are available on the 205(j) Grant Program website.
Please direct any questions to Robin Hoffman, 205(j) Grant Administrator, at (919) 707-3643 or Robin....@deq.nc.gov .
