Hey, there:

Just came across you guys, and thought "That! That's what I've been obsessing about for 4 months!"

Looked at github, and I think I could be useful in v3, maybe elsewhere, too.

Former computer geek, current lawyer. Run a virtual firm through slack in Canada.

Think this could be awesome, would like to get into it further.

Haven't read all the legalese university stuff yet, and inexperienced with git, but willing to learn. Would see myself most valuable in running translations of existing natural language rules to L4 for the purpose of testing the L4 features. But I'm willing to pitch in on v2 in order to be around when Legalese gets there.

Tried emailing colle...@legalese.com for the invite, got a daemon error. Made a git issue about it.

Shoot me a link.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Jason, thanks!

Where formalization goes, we're working through cases from simple to complex.

Our current effort: the genre of http://bigtexan.com/72-oz-steak/ and its variants, using a range of languages such as Hvitved's CSL to see which representations hit the sweet spot between power and accessibility.

I'll post my latest thinking here and maybe we can get some benefit from working through those cases.

On a related note, many people have been asking, "so Legalese is basically templates, right?"

My latest answer: "The difference between templates and Legalese is the difference between HTML and Javascript: one is a markup language, the other is a programming language."

Can we do better than this for a technically-inclined asker?  How about "templates are to legalese as Excel is to SQL?"

Legalese is to a fill-in-the-blank template as Microsoft Word is to a typewriter.

The collective email address has been fixed, and I resent the request. Should I be looking for a reply, or should I take your response as a "no"? :)
