The Spark Cassandra Connector 3.0.0 is a huge milestone for manipulating Apache Cassandra™ data in Apache Spark™!

The 3.0.0 release contains Spark 3.0.x support, including the new Catalog implementation. To quickly start with Catalogs see this short demo, read the DataFrames documentation page, or watch this presentation. To give you a hint what's now possible with the new Cassandra Catalog:

  • Thanks to tight integration between Spark and Cassandra Catalog you may create, drop and alter Cassandra tables and keyspaces directly in Spark
  • Data migration between Cassandra clusters is easier than ever thanks to the ability to create multiple Catalogs in one Spark session
  • Spark automatically optimizes queries based on the insight knowledge about Cassandra data layout

Like the previous release, this one also comes in two flavors: spark-cassandra-connector and spark-cassandra-connector-assembly. The former is not assembled: all of its dependencies are listed in the corresponding pom.xml file. The latter is an assembled JAR with some of the dependencies shaded.

See the full release note page here.

Please send us feedback, feature requests, or bug reports on this mailing list and we'll get to them as soon as possible.

Thank you,

Datastax Spark Cassandra Connector Team
