Good use case of netty-transport-native-epoll

Hi everyone,
in this commit Andrew Tolbert added an entry to FAQ for netty-transport-native-epoll. Although at the beginning says

Netty provides native transport libraries which generally generate less garbage and improve performance when compared to the default NIO-based transport

after says that 

While the epoll transport may in general improve performance, we expect the improvement to be marginal for a lot of use cases

I was wondering why you expect that and in which cases you would recommend to use the native epoll transport.
