I hope you all have had a great first week back from spring break. If you're looking to be more involved with MUSA (especially if you wish to be an officer next year), come check out the opportunities we have in this email!
Title: An introduction to the Langlands program
Speaker: Sug Woo Shin
Abstract: This is a gentle introduction to the Langlands program based on the developments of reciprocity law. Some attention will be drawn to the birth of the Langlands program in a letter of Langlands to Weil in 1967. Time permitting, a snapshot of some current developments may be given.
The fall class schedule came out recently, and if you're at a loss as to what classes you should take, come to our peer advising night! The math peer advisers, along with MUSA, will go over the math classes in detail so you know what to and what not to take (and which professors are bad). Pizza will be provided!
We are holding a couple events during Cal Day for interested prospective students and families who are curious about mathematics. If you're interested in volunteering for these events, please fill out
this form by
April 13. More information is provided in the form itself.
This semester we launched the Berkeley Undergraduate Mathe-mentoring Program, which aimed to give freshmen and sophomore undergraduates a special experience, meeting with upperclassmen to talk about math and life. We're putting that together for the fall semester. If you're interested in being a mentor for the program, please fill out
this form by
April 24. Interviews will happen probably during dead week. If you are interested in being a mentee, applications will come out over the end of summer/next semester.
Best,
