TODAY NOV 17: DESIGN FIELD NOTES w/ SIMON YEE
The Jacobs Design Field Notes speaker series invites a dynamic group of designers, artists, and academics in design-related fields to share their work and practice. Each talk is free and open to all students and members of the public. View the full speaker lineup. Today's talk is:

Evaluating Tech Companies as a New Grad
Simon Yee / Director of Product Design, Rippling
Thursday, November 17 | 1-2pm | Join the talk with this Zoom link

I design digital products, systems, and experiences. These days though, I’m mostly designing teams. I was born and raised in the Bay Area and have never left. I’m a huge proponent of advocating design partnership across entire organizations, building scalable design systems, operationalizing design processes, and empowering designers to build amazing things.

NOW ACCEPTING CLUB/DECAL MEETING SPACE REQUESTS FOR SPRING 2023
Jacobs Hall provides teaching & meeting space for DeCals and student clubs exploring human-centered design and emerging technology. The priority deadline for Spring 2023 teaching space and club meeting space requests is Friday, December 2nd, 2022; applications submitted after that date will be considered on a rolling basis. Room reservations start on the third week of the semester (week of January 29th) through the final week of class (week of April 23rd). You can access the DeCal teaching space request form and the club meeting space request form via the following links:
NEW SPRING COURSE & GSI ROLE: DES INV 25 USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN
We are happy to share that another course has been added to our spring course lineup: DES INV 25 User Experience Design. Learn more about the course through its course listing.

Learn about other spring semester DES INV and affiliated departmental courses on the Jacobs course page. For questions about enrollment in DES INV courses, please consult our course enrollment policies.

NEW SPRING GSI ROLE: DES INV 25 USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN
We are also seeking a 25% appointment GSI role for DES INV 25.

More information about this and other available roles, and instructions on how to apply are provided on the Jacobs website. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, beginning immediately, until positions are filled. Please reference the FAQ at the end of the Jacobs ASE page for general information about Jacobs ASE hiring. Other questions that are not addressed in the FAQ can be directed to Aleta Martinez.

UPCOMING HOLIDAY CLOSURES
Please note these upcoming closures of Jacobs Hall building and services due to upcoming administrative holidays. During these dates, all of Jacobs Hall (teaching studios, makerspace, and staff/faculty offices) will be closed.

Thanksgiving/Native American Heritage Day closure Wednesday 11/23 starting at 3 PM through Sunday 11/27; normal operating hours resume Monday 11/28.

Pause on JPS/SSP submission for Fall Break- JPS will be closed for the aforementioned fall break (11/23-11/28), and therefore we will stop taking submission for fabrication (including 3DPOS prints) this Friday the 18th at 5pm. Prints and JPS submissions can still be picked up until we close for the break on the 23rd.

END OF SEMESTER MATERIAL CLEAR-OUT
This is an early reminder to make plans to remove all of your personal materials from Jacobs Hall maker spaces and teaching studios before we close for the semester on December 16th at 7pm. It is important that our team has the opportunity to reset the space the spring semester, so we cannot allow for between-semester storage of materials or projects in any of our maker spaces.
