It's our favorite time of year at Jacobs Hall—Halloween! Check out the activities and resources offered through the month of October and mark your calendars. In addition to October's festivities, you'll also find important information about Spring 22 and open student positions at Jacobs.

DESIGN FIELD NOTES, SARA CAMBRIDGE
THE ROLE OF STORYTELLING IN YOUR CAREER
Tuesday, October 12, 2021
4–5 PM

Sara has been a UX researcher for 9 years, and before that worked as a graphic designer for over a decade. She has worked both in-house and as an external consultant and has experience at Google, Verily, Airtable, and Patreon. She’s a graduate of Berkeley’s School of Information, where she currently teaches the “Storytelling for your UX Portfolio” class. Join us in welcoming Sara to our Design Field Notes series next Tuesday!

MDes ADMISSIONS EVENTS
If you are interested in learning more about the Berkeley Master of Design (MDes), join them for one of their many upcoming admissions events. The next one is scheduled for Friday, October 15. Learn more by visiting their Admissions Events page.

HIRING: ASE POSITIONS
We are currently hiring ASE roles for Spring 22. More information about the available roles and instructions on how to apply can be found on our Student Roles at Jacobs page. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, beginning immediately, until positions are filled, with the goal of filling all positions by early November. Please email Aleta Martinez if you have any questions. 

HIRING: STUDENT WEB DESIGNER
We are also looking for one student to join our Creative Team as a web designer and developer. You can learn more about the application process and requirements by visiting the Student Roles page, or the recent news post. Applications are due October 14.

SPRING 22 COURSE LIST
The course listing for Spring 22 is now available. Details for some courses, like the instructor and meeting time, are being finalized and will be added to the Academic Guide course listings when ready. For questions about DES INV enrollment policies, look here. The Fall 2021 course list has been moved to the course archives, which you can access here

DECALS SPRING 22
Calling all Jacobs DeCal & Club Leaders! Each semester, the Jacobs Institute sponsors DeCals that explore topics in design and technology innovation. To apply for your course to be sponsored as a DES INV DeCal in Spring 2022, submit all required documents (more details below) to this form no later than the relevant deadline below; late submissions cannot be accepted.

Friday, October 20th if this is the first time the course would be offered as a DES INV DeCal
Friday, October 27th if you are submitting a returning DES INV DeCal

Provide the date of when each facilitator took a training or intends to take training if the date has not yet passed. * Please use the most updated version of Adobe Acrobat and do not lock the pdf application after receiving the signature of the Instructor who will sponsor your DeCal. Contact trog...@berkeley.edu for questions, especially if you are developing a new DeCal and want to discuss it before preparing your full proposal.

We are now offering two weekly drop-in tours! Stop by Thursday or Friday at 3:10 PM if you would like to tour Jacobs Hall and learn more about our space. Please meet in the west lobby to join. Learn more.
