General Opportunities

Paid Research Study on Human-Computer Interaction for Engineering Design 

We are looking for participants who have taken a mechanics course to complete a task related to optimizing designs with model assistance. Participants will be asked to complete: 1 online design task 1 post-task survey.  

Participants will be compensated: $10 via an Amazon gift card.  

Time commitment: 30 minutes,

Eligibility 18 years old and above, taken a course in structural/solid mechanics (e.g. in mechanical or civil engineering).

Participation is completely voluntary. If you are interested, please enter your email in the following form. You will be sent further details and instructions as well as a link to the study to the email you indicate on the form.

Career

Designer of Accessible Media 

Designer II in the Media and Accessible Design Lab (MAD Lab) at LightHouse for the Blind in San Francisco. Full-time, hybrid. The MAD Lab specializes in making information accessible to people who are blind and low vision, turning inaccessible experiences into inclusive ones. We produce braille, large print, tactile maps and interpretive exhibits, and audio formats, going beyond baseline ADA compliance to customize each project to our client’s exact requirements and user base. 


The Environmentalist Magazine

The Environmentalist is a new student-run magazine at UC Berkeley that aims to educate Berkeley students and locals about the various environmental issues in Berkeley and the greater Bay Area. The magazine aspires to cover student and University actions on local environmental issues, amplify voices of marginalized communities impacted by climate change, and keep Berkeley students and the University administration accountable for their ecological footprint and contribution to climate change.

The magazine will officially begin running in Spring 2024. Apply to be part of our very first cohort of Environmentalist journalists and have your hand in establishing the magazine for future UC Berkeley journalists. We are hiring a Head Editor, Staff Reporters, Staff Photographers, Staff Designers, Staff Artists, and a ‘Financial and Marketing Officer.’

Opening Night and Member Happy Hour: Wednesday, December 13, from 7pm - 10pm

Showcase open hours: Thursday, December 14, from 12pm - 5pm

From entrancing audiovisual experiences, explorations of cultural identity, and the intersection of traditional art and the cutting-edge technology of today, challenge your sensory experience and contemplate the intricate interplay between the digital and physical realms.
