LAST CALL! SHOW YOUR WORK AT THE JACOBS WINTER DESIGN SHOWCASE
Per tradition, this semester’s Jacobs Design Showcase will feature DES INV undergraduate courses, Jacobs Hall-affiliated courses as well as courses from the MDes graduate program—BUT ALSO independent projects by students, researchers, clubs, staff and faculty!
Exhibition sessions are 90 minutes long, and through exhibiting you’ll have a chance to 1) user test and 2) receive valuable feedback, and 3) make friends and connections. (And yes, there are sometimes opportunities to show for multiple sessions.) Priority placement and timing is first come first serve, so apply now (and before EOD November 20 NOVEMBER 22!) if you wish to participate! We will follow up with any answers to questions you might have, as well as a timeslot and other logistics.

SP26 Innovation Catalysts Applications NOW OPEN
Every semester, students bring a wide range of innovative projects to life at Jacobs Hall and throughout Berkeley’s vibrant design ecosystem. The Jacobs Institute Innovation Catalysts, made possible by Deborah Weisser, Ben Gomes, and the Eustace-Kwan Family Foundation, is a student grant program that provides an avenue for these ambitious student innovators to unlock further potential in their projects. Berkeley students are invited to propose projects that they aim to develop over the course of a semester. Selected grantees will work on their projects with the support of resources from the Jacobs Institute and as part of a cohort of fellow student innovators. Big Ideas Contest
The Big Ideas Contest at UC Berkeley is an annual, year-long innovation competition designed to support interdisciplinary teams of students who are developing creative solutions to pressing social challenges and real-world problems. Unlike traditional business plan competitions, Big Ideas is focused primarily on social impact, whether through for-profit ventures, non-profits, or ad-hoc teams, and it encourages students to step outside their academic coursework to tackle issues they are passionate about. Berkeley Student Professional Development Fund - Fall Application Open
The Student Opportunity Fund Committee is pleased to announce that the Student Opportunity Fund (SOF) application for the 2025-2026 school year is open.
The Student Opportunity Fund provides funding for professional development opportunities for students. SOF funding is awarded to individual students or RSO applicants who are seeking funding (up to $2000) for opportunities outside of the classroom (e.g. visiting speakers, forums on topics of general interest, conferences, etc.) to further their career or professional goals.
The deadline for Fall 2025 applications, for any opportunity taking place between July 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025, is December 1, 2025 at 11:59pm.
The application will open again in Spring for opportunities taking place between January 1, 2026 and June 30, 2026. More information to come.
