Description
Learning community of UC Berkeley faculty, students and staff interested in creative and high impact learning experiences.
Members can use the Google group to share resources, research, events and questions with each other regarding the impact and implementation of high impact learning.
High-impact learning practices (HIPs) are defined by the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) as evidence-based teaching and learning practices that significantly benefit students’ experiences in higher education, particularly historically underserved demographic groups, such as service learning, undergraduate research or internships. The group is co-owned by Berkeley Discovery and the Center for Teaching & Learning. This learning community came out of the Spring 2024 Teaching Towards Discovery Symposium co-organized by Lisa Wymore and Evelyn Thorne. See Discovery's curricular innovation page to read the symposium report with an in-depth analysis on the impact of Discovery-based learning, case study examples and clear actions for stakeholders to take: https://discovery.berkeley.edu/faculty-staff/curricular-innovation.
