Hello,

You are receiving this email because you are a previous participant in the JMIH Mentorship Program. Please forgive me for spamming you all, but I want to make you aware of a new SSAR program that could potentially be important for some of you out there.

The SSAR Graduate Student Mentorship Program (GSMP) is a long-form, organized mentorship program built to grow networks and better support students. A full program description with links to the application forms can be found here: https://ssarherps.org/2025/07/graduate-student-mentorship-program-2025-26/

Here are some quick points:
  • Mentor applications are due August 8
  • Mentee applications are due August 15
  • Peer mentors should be current Ph.D. candidates, or people who defended their Ph.D. within the past two years and are currently in a temporary position (like a postdoc)
  • Mentees should be 1st or 2nd year Ph.D. students (start date between July 2024 and September 2025) or master’s students
  • All applicants should be studying amphibians and/or reptiles

If you have questions, don't hesitate to contact the program director, Dr. Jessica Tingle (cc'd here).

All the best,
Rob Denton
