Subject: Graduate and postdoctoral opportunities at Ball State University
To:
Hello colleagues and friends,
I'm writing to share several upcoming positions in my new laboratory at Ball State University (Muncie, IN). Please distribute the information below to anyone you know who may be interested.
Graduate (MS) Positions
-
Genomics of polyploid salamanders - Working with, or generating, a variety of sequencing data (PacBio, RNAseq, targeted sequencing) to understand the evolution of all-female, polyploid salamanders
in the genus Ambystoma. Can include contributing towards current genome assemblies, conducting fieldwork, and/or applying new techniques to data already collected.
-
Conservation genetics of Chiricahua Leopard Frogs - Contributing towards and asking questions within a series of experimental crosses between different genetic clusters of the threatened Chiricahua
Leopard Frog. Based at field stations in Arizona and New Mexico during the summer and on campus during the academic year. Can combine elements of amphibian development, genomics, and applied conservation.
Postdoctoral Scholar
Additionally, we have funding starting in 2027 (May 2027 - August 2030) to hire a postdoctoral researcher to oversee the frog project described above. This individual will be stationed in Arizona and New Mexico during the summers and on campus during the academic
year. Opportunities include contributing towards the analysis of genomics data, developing extensions to the breeding experiments, and participating in outreach/teaching components.
Ball State is a wonderful campus, and we have abundant space in the new
Foundational Sciences Building. Muncie is broadly affordable, and our graduate students are well supported by a diverse department. I'd encourage interested individuals to see our website (

for more information about personnel, goals, and scholarly output. Happy to answer any questions!
All the best,
Rob
