THINKING FROM BANGLADESH, BUILDING TOWARDS JUSTICE Celebrating 10 Years of the Subir & Malini Chowdhury Center for Bangladesh Studies We are thrilled to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Chowdhury Center with an event on October 12, 2024, bringing together scholars and practitioners for an afternoon of conversations on ecological and architectural practices towards sustainable collective futures.
Considering Bangladesh simultaneously as a place and a node in global ecological flows, Thinking from Bangladesh, Building towards Justice foregrounds efforts to understand—and to help resolve—the challenges faced by the people of Bangladesh, as a result of climate change as well as the social, political, economic, and environmental contexts in which they live. We expect this event to be of interest to anyone concerned with the planetary climate crisis and attuned to the needs and dignity of the most marginalized members of any community. AGENDAKEYNOTE: Architecture of Transition Renowned Bangladeshi architect, educator, and one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2024, MARINA TABASSUM , on the architecture of relevance, reflecting on questions of survival, building, and flourishing in an environmental key.
