Hello Everyone,

Some of you are probably on this list because of it, but if you haven't read it yet, UC Berkeley sent out a press release on the Eclipse Megamovie Project earlier this week. Multiple media organizations have already picked up the story, but you can read the original here.

In other "news," we are now accepting applications from those who wish to participate in the Megamovie project at the highest level, meaning you have the proper equipment (see below*), will be within the path of totality during the August 21st total solar eclipse, and are able to take part in some online training. We are calling these volunteers the Megamovie Photo Team. To apply, go to our website and click the new "Sign In" button in the upper right-hand corner. You'll then create a profile, which includes telling us your planned location for observing the eclipse and what equipment you have.

Don't have fancy camera equipment but want to participate using your smart phone or other device?  We'd still love to have you involved in the project!  Sign In on our website as well and create your profile. You'll then become a Megamovie "Fan" and we'll keep you up-to-date on our app development and how we'd like you to submit your eclipse images too.

Finally, the list of eclipse resources is ever-growing. A great one for libraries is STAR Net, which is helping libraries across the country prepare for the 2017 total solar eclipse in a variety of ways, including free eclipse glasses and education kits. Ask your library to sign up now at http://www.starnetlibraries.org/2017eclipse.

Thanks again for your interest in the Eclipse Megamovie Project - we'll continue to keep you posted on all the latest project developments and eclipse news!
