I hope your November is treating you well so far. Tomorrow, Monday November 16th at 5pm PST, 7pm CT, and 8pm EST, we'd love to have you all join us for our November Volunteer Meeting. Here's the Zoom link:
We'll be joined by Dr. Bryan Medez, who will talk about NASA's Carruthers Geocorona Observatory mission studying the geocorona.
Many
of you have supported the Eclipse Megamovie efforts to learn more about
the changes that happen in the solar corona. NASA colleagues who also
do research in the Heliophysics division of NASA are studying the
changes that happen in the geocorona, the outermost atmosphere of Earth
also made up of primarily hydrogen. While these two phenomena share
the word "corona," and are both made up of hydrogen, they couldn't be
more different. The hydrogen in the geocorona originates from water
vapor in the lower atmosphere, but scientists have much more to learn
about how this Earth-based hydrogen moves to such high altitudes. "A new
NASA mission bearing the name of the telescope’s creator, Dr. George R.
Carruthers will launch into space to build on that legacy. From a
vantage point roughly one million miles closer to the Sun than Earth is,
the Carruthers Geocorona Observatory will capture the most
comprehensive views of the geocorona to date." -NASA from

We'll also hear from Laura with updates about EclipseCon, happening at Sonoma State University in Sonoma County, CA in March of next year.
Hope to see you tomorrow,
Hannah :)
