Dear APrIGF Community,
The Call for Volunteers for the 2026 Drafting Committee is now open. The Synthesis Document is one of the key outputs of the annual APrIGF meeting, projecting voices, views and thoughts shared in the Asia Pacific regional meeting as contributions to relevant global, national, local and international forums on Internet governance. Join the Drafting Committee if you would like to shape the process for this important output.
Background and scope of work:
The Drafting Committee (DC) is the group that is responsible for shepherding the annual APrIGF Synthesis Document from its framework stage, through the several public comment periods and live Town Hall sessions to the final published Synthesis Document. The DC is unique in that we open membership to the wider community and not just those inside the MSG. In this committee, everyone is expected to take part in the drafting process, attend the scheduled working calls, and attend the Town Hall sessions. There are no observer/inactive roles. It has served as APrIGF’s contribution to the global IGF and other processes such as the Global Digital Compact consultations. You can find the past editions of the Synthesis Documents archived here: https://ap.rigf.asia/events/
Proposed working timeline:
This year the proposed draft timeline is as follows - https://igf.asia/DraftingCommittee2026
There will also be the 3 live Town Hall sessions which all members of the DC are strongly encouraged to attend and host on the 5, 6 and 7 October 2026 during APrIGF (timing to be confirmed once APrIGF 2026 program agenda is finalised). The final published document is projected to be published before the 21st IGF conference taking place on 14 December 2026.
Action:
If you are able to commit the time and would like to confirm your participation in the 2026 Drafting Committee, please respond directly to this email with your name, stakeholder group and affiliation (you may also select individual instead of any org or institution). Please send your affirmative response before or by next Thursday, 20 July 2026 at 23:59 UTC and the Secretariat will send you details on how to join the working call.
First call:
The first call is scheduled for Friday, 7 August at 04:00AM UTC. A calendar invitation will be sent to you once Secretariat acknowledges your response.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Rani Retmono
Secretariat of APrIGF
