Dear members of the NIST-EAC VVSG Public Working Groups,

With the adoption of the Voluntary Voting System Guidelines (VVSG) 2.0 by the Commissioners of the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) on February 10, 2021, NIST is now decommissioning the VVSG 2.0 public working groups that were created to inform the development of the VVSG.  These groups were composed of election officials, election equipment manufacturers, and election subject-matter experts, and were open to any member of the general public.  Many of you freely contributed significant time and effort towards the development of the VVSG by attending regular public working group meetings and proposing and commenting on draft VVSG 2.0 language.  Your input into the VVSG 2.0 development was extremely important and NIST is very grateful for your assistance.

The public working groups included Election Process Public Working Groups for Pre-Election, Election, and Post-Election as well as Constituency Public Working Groups whose members focused on Cybersecurity, Human Factors, Interoperability, and Testing of voting systems.

NIST will continue to engage a wide range of stakeholders in discussions related to improving the use of technology in election systems and hope to work with many of you again in the future.

Sincerely,

The NIST Voting Team
