Happy Data Privacy Day from NIST!

Dear Colleagues,

Tomorrow, Data Privacy Day, caps a fantastic week of celebrating data privacy!

Data Privacy Day wouldn’t be complete without celebrating the 3rd birthday of the NIST Privacy Framework! With nearly 100k downloads since its release, the Privacy Framework is proving to be a valuable resource for organizations around the world. With the help of stakeholders like yourselves, we are always adding new resources and content to support framework adoption. This past year we’ve released an Arabic translation of the Privacy Framework as well as Spanish and Portuguese translations of the Privacy Framework Quick Start Guide.

Building on the Privacy Framework Quick Start Guide, today we posted a new blog: Data Analytics for Small Businesses: How to Manage Privacy Risks. Data analytics isn’t just for large organizations anymore, but it can be particularly challenging for small businesses to navigate.

This past year, we also co-sponsored a PETs Prize Challenge so that we can better use data to solve big problems while still protecting privacy. Stay tuned for the announcement of the winners in March!

We’re looking forward to a busy 2023 working to increase the resources available to improve data privacy in information systems, products, and services.
