Hi,

We appreciate that NIST prioritized standardization of SLH-DSA and that it will be published at the same time as ML-KEM and ML-DSA. If I remember correctly, NIST was previously planning to standardize SLH-DSA later together with NL-DSA.

Hi,

going off-topic for this thread but this is the first time I see Falcon being called „NL-DSA“. I believe calling it that would be a great mistake as pronunciation is too similar to „ML-DSA“. Even experts will get confused and everyone who is not an expert but has to sell or buy crypto products will be constantly confusing the two.

Best,
Simon

P.S. I forgot to add the pqc-forum list to the recipients. Now for everyone.

Simon,

We are planning to call Falcon FN-DSA.  We had considered NL, but we came to the same conclusion that it was too close to ML.  Apologies for any confusion, as I think I have publicly called it NL in the past at some point.

My guess would be it is short for "FalcoN" -- but that's just a non-educated guess.  :)

It stands for FFT over NTRU lattices.  (And yes it's close to Falcon as well)
