This is a reminder from NIST that we are now well into Round 2 of evaluation of the "Additional Digital Signatures for Post-Quantum Cryptography" [1]. Round 2 will end sometime in 2026 (the precise date is still to be determined).
We appreciate the cryptographic community's efforts to analyze these candidate digital signature schemes, particularly those schemes which have undergone significant revisions during Round 2 [2].
We would still like to encourage attempts to cryptanalyze these schemes, and to find errors in their specifications and security proofs. Cryptanalysis has played an important role in past rounds of the NIST PQC standardization process, both in determining which schemes are selected for standardization, and in correcting design mistakes in schemes that are ultimately standardized. Examples of this are described in our previous reports [3] [4].
