Hello,
Are there any difference between a CAC and PIV card? We are currently trying to implement a web-based solution that involves both CAC/PIV. We got the PIV from NIST for testing and implementation but I understand that both the card PKIs are not the same? Is that correct?
1. If you can help me with the (technical) difference between the two.
2. Just like PIV are there any sample CAC is available from NIST for vendors who implement solutions for DoD?
Regards,
Suman

Google for: smartcards dual "CAC" and "PIV"
with the quotes
If you are using OpenSC, with a dual card, the PIV driver will be chosen first. If you need to use the CAC driver
you will need to change the opensc.conf file. to reorder or select specific drivers.
See https://github.com/OpenSC/OpenSC/wiki or the man pages.
