NISTIR 8214C 2pd (Second Public Draft) is published

Dear MPTC friends,

We are glad to announce that NIST just released NISTIR 8214C 2PD, the second public draft of the NIST Threshold Call. Thank you for your patience, as this update took longer than previously predicted.

Public comments for community discussion are welcome via the MPTC forum. Public comments intended for consideration during the final revision of the document should be sent by 2025-Apr-30 to nistir-8214C-comments (at) list (dot) nist (dot) gov.

Appendix E describes changes since the initial public draft (2023-Jan-25).

The submission deadline is aimed to be around X+8 (unit in months), where X will be the month of the Threshold Call publication (some time after the period of public comments about the 2PD). There is also a "previews" phase (see Section 4.1) encouraging teams to present their submission plan in advance (around X+2 and/or X+5). NIST-MPTC will organize virtual meetings for the corresponding presentations.

The period of public comments about the second public draft (2pd) of the NIST Threshold Call (NISTIR 8214C) is now extended until 2025-May-30.

We expect this additional time to be useful for more intra/inter-team related discussion.

To recall: the 2pd was published on 2025-Mar-27, initially indicating a period of public comments until 2025-Apr-30.
