Hello,

I hope this mail finds you well.

I would like to represent the 1D transport and the speciation (transformation of mercury species into methylmercury) of mercury in surface water. I think of using the advection-diffusion equation as in the fipy examples to describe the pollutant transport and to use the Cahn-Hilliard 2D example but in 1D to describe the transformation of mercury species into methylmercury.
Please my questions are:
1- Is my reasoning correct?
2- How do I do this, since I'm new to Fipy, Pytoh, Programmation,...

Thank you in advance.

Yours sincerely,
Marie.

Advection-diffusion combined with Cahn-Hilliard could work, as could advection-diffusion-reaction equations. What is used in the literature for your field?

If you have identified a mathematical model, we can help you implement it in FiPy. Your question as posed is too open ended for us to help.
