Hi!
My name is Ricardo Amado from Portugal and I'm a civil engineering student doing my master's thesis with the CONTAM program. In order to verify that the program's results are in agreement with analytical calculations, I want to carry out a test on 3 types of natural ventilation. The first is for thermal effect only, the second is for wind effect and the third is for the combined effect of these two forces.
My problem is that after simulating the first case (thermal effect) in the program, the result is not the same as the one calculated analytically. I'm attaching the Pdf with the model exercises I want to develop and the PRJ file.
Can you confirm that I am running the program correctly for this situation in which only the thermal effect is to be used?

Thank you for you time.
Best Regards,
Ricardo Amado

Ricardo,

Perhaps you’ve figured it out by now, but you need to simply run a Steady airflow simulation instead of a Building Airflow Test.
There are also some CONTAM verification test cases presented in an appendix of the AIRNET report.
This report can be found on the NIST Multizone Modeling website here:
https://www.nist.gov/el/energy-and-environment-division-73200/nist-multizone-modeling/software/contam/documentation.

There are differences in some constants used by AIRNET and CONTAM.
Density [kg/m3]  Gravity [m/s2]  Pbar [Pa]  Rair [J/kg-K]  Tstd [K]
AIRNET      1.20415         9.8            101325      287.055       293.15
CONTAM      1.2041          9.8055           “            “            “
