Not really a cipher mode issue, but I don’t think NISTs have an active email list for discussing hash functions. Maybe NIST should have a single list for all symmetric crypto like what PQC forum is for all not-soon-disallowed asymmetric crypto.

 

Where can I find:

Public Comments on the Draft Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Draft FIPS 180-2, Secure Hash Standard (SHS) (2001)

This recently used to be on the NIST web page but seems to have disappeared. Keeping all historical public comments accessible is essential to building trust in NIST’s cryptographic standards and the NIST standardization process.
