Wasn't sure if folks saw that the Windows Subsystem for Linux has finally shipped and I can confirm WSL 2 w/ Ubuntu works amazingly well on Windows 10 rev. 2004. WSL 2 includes a full blown linux kernel.

Instructions at http://aka.ms/wsl =) runs fast on a mini-virtualized environment and allows for interesting windows+linux scenario for development.
