An update from UCLALUG

On behalf of UCLALUG, I invite you to take a look at some new (and
hopefully improved) aspects of UCLALUG! The changes fall into two
categories - administrative and systems.
First, the exciting stuff: we've migrated our mail and mailing lists
to Google Apps and gave our website a facelift! Your mail and mailing
list membership has been moved as well, though you may need to contact
us to get your Google Apps password (if you have an active UCLALUG
account). Important links are:

We plan on opening our site (driven by Dokuwiki) to member
contributions, Wiki-style (look for an announcement soon!). We'll also
be looking for contributors to write Linux articles for us. Finally,
we now have an official Facebook page, Twitter page, and an IRC
channel (all linked from our website).
On the administrative end, we've updated our constitution, which now
has provisions for five distinct officer positions, each with unique
responsibilities:
President - planning and oversight of LUG functions
External VP - outreach to industry and media
Internal VP - systems and LUG organization
Marketing - member recruitment and retention, event planning
Treasurer - fundraising
Our general meetings are now held bi-weekly on Thursdays at 6pm at the
LUG lounge (everyone are welcome to stop by). Our officer meetings are
at super-secret location :)
Finally, we have an Installfest coming up this Saturday, October 2nd
from 10am to 4pm at Boelter Hall 4760. If you can make it (even to
just say "Hi"), please stop by!
Over the next few weeks, we'll be sending announcements of the events
sponsored by UCLALUG - these include technical talks by well-known
companies and professors - something no other club does!
So, stay tuned to us and come take advantage of these resources. Food
is always provided. Welcome again and I hope to see you all around
(either in person or online)!
