Hi everybody,

Dr. Scott Friedman, Chief Technologist at UCLA's Institute for Digital
Research and Education (IDRE), will come to our next-next LUG meeting
(2013-11-05) to talk about some possibilities for getting involved in
UCLA's high performance computing clusters, networking, and storage
systems. This includes the campus' main research cluster (Hoffman2) as
well as several others such as the Dawson2 GPU cluster, multi-petabyte
storage systems and 10/40/100G networking.

He is also looking to put together a UCLA team to compete in the
Supercomputing Conference Student Cluster Challenge next year (for
undergraduates only). See [1] for more information about the
competition. Fun fact: Linux powers 476 of the 500 most powerful
computers in the world [2].

I will update our calendar and Meeting Notes accordingly [3].
