Hi all,

My tablet died recently and I'm casting round for an alternative.

I *_don't_* want a tablet again. Android was trying to (and sometimes succeeding) track my location  too often for my liking!

So, I found this:

Now, I'm not much of a hardward guy, so I would like a little guidance here.

=======
SUPPORTS HDD UPTO 1TB - Your new Lapbook comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB of on-board eMMC storage with the option to expand the memory up to 256GB with a Micro SD card (tf-card) or Insert a HDD (upto 1TB) and increase the internal storage immediately.
=======

BUT! - further down the page:

========
and it is backed with a HDD slot (not all HDDs compatible, please check with Fusion5 for compatible HDDs readily available in the market) which can take upto 1TB HDD.
========

What does this mean exactly?

The company's web site (Fusion5) is recommending a 2.5" from Barracuda.

My thoughts are that surely if Barracuda works, they will? Aren't these things made to standard specs?

Any advice, references, recommendations for other h/ware most welcome!

TIA and rgs,

Pól...

Greetings,

If you are on a budget and want something that goes very well with
Linux, it's small and powerful enough I would strongly recommend a
ThinkPad X230.
You can use any 2.5 inch SATA SSD or HD, it has USB 3.0 ports and you
can also use a mSATA SSD.

I got mine for around 180 Euro at laptopmarket.ie
They ram two RAM slots and you can upgrade up to 2x8GB for a total of
16 GB of RAM, which is crazy.
