Hi all,

Samsung 3 Series NP355V5C AMD Quad core, 8GB RAM.

As per subject. I followed the instructions here

and all it gives me when I boot is

Please insert boot device.... yadda...

Now, I'm trying to boot from DVD which I burned in TCD - I've done this before, so I don't
think it's a burn/non-bootable device issue (will double check this evening)

Would anybody have anything to add/subtrace to what's in the post above?

TIA and rgs,

Paul...

Followup with more detail provided to a poster who replied off list - these
£$"£**! lists should default to the group on reply to - I've been caught by
this myself on more than one occasion.

> Have you change the boot device in your laptops Bios to boot from your internal hard drive?
> Should be under something like boot/storage options/configuration

Now, on booting and pressing F10, I get a choice of boot devices
ubuntu (blah.....)
ubuntu (more blah...)  <----- I have two Ubuntu partitions, so that's where that's coming from
P0 :ST1000LM024 HN-M101MBB <------ don't have  a clue what this is - I don't have a mobile broadband device attached)
P3 :TSSTcorp CDDVDW SN-208DN  <----- my DVD drive presumably.
Enter Setup

When I choose the DVD drive, it just drops me into the "Please insert boot device..."

Is my DVD not bootable? I have done this before, so I'm a bit puzzled.

In my BIOS, I disabled Fast Bios Mode
and have set OS Mode Selection to UEFI and Legacy OS as per the link provided earlier.

Any ideas, suggestions, URLs &c. welcome.

Sorry - false alarm. I used Windows to burn the images - obviously I messed up. I have
some Windows software I wish to install and as a student I get freebies from Microsoft,
which you need to run some Windows tool (Kivuto) to download. I thought that since
I was doing it anyway, why not download the lot.... not a good idea... Burnt on a Linux
box here in College and she fired up straight away.

Anyway, sorry for any inconvenience.

Use ImgBurn in future, I use it on the Windows machines here in work and it works like a charm.
