Hi Council Members,
I wanted to give you an update and ask for your help for our final Awards Nomination push. We did receive enough nominations for the Scholarships and First Time Conference Stipends. Those applications will close today as planned, and the winners will be officially approved at our June 18 NYLA Council Meeting.
As for the awards, we did get more nominations in this last week, but some categories only have one nomination, and the Intellectual Freedom award still has zero nominations. For this reason, we’re extending the deadline until Monday, June 15 for all NYLA Awards. Becky will be sharing this out in NYCU and updating the website, and I’ve written both the Awards and Recognition Committee and the Intellectual Freedom Committee to ask for their help in advertising. I would greatly appreciate your help as NYLA leaders as well! Surely, we all know someone doing great work, especially in Intellectual Freedom these days, so why not nominate them for an award so we can celebrate them in style??
We specifically need more nominations for the following awards:
Distinguished Achievement Award
Librarian of the Year (Academic/Special)
Librarian of the Year (School)
Intellectual Freedom Award
We will continue to accept nominations for the other awards as well, through Monday, June 15.
Your help spreading the word is much appreciated! Let me know if you have any questions or there is anything else I can do to help.
All my best,
AnnaLee
