Good news for Suffolk entry-level librarians

Good afternoon,

Due to a recent change to Nassau County civil service rules, Suffolk residents are now able to apply to get on the Librarian 1 and Librarian 1 (Bilingual) civil service lists in Nassau County for the first time ever! Forty-seven of Nassau's 54 public libraries are required to hire their Librarian 1s off of this list, unlocking many new opportunities for entry-level librarians interested in employment in Nassau's public libraries. There is an application deadline of July 31, 2025 to get on the Nassau County Civil Service Commission's next  Librarian 1 and Librarian 1 (Bilingual) lists. Applications are accepted throughout the year, but the lists are only updated every six months.
