The Andrew Heiskell Braille and Talking Book Library is a branch of the New York Public Library (NYPL) and the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) that provides free accessible reading material for patrons who are print disabled. This free service is available to patrons with the following disabilities that may impede their enjoyment of print books:

Blindness or visual impairments (e.g., low vision, aging vision loss)
Physical disabilities (e.g., arthritis, MS, brain injury)
Reading disabilities like dyslexia
The library serves all five boroughs of New York City, as well as Nassau and Suffolk Counties. It provides access to a catalogue of over 160,000 talking books (audiobooks) in English available for free listening on a smartphone or loaned digital players. All services are free and eligible patrons can receive them directly at home via USPS.

This presentation will be given by Nallely Mejia, the Outreach Program Coordinator at the Andrew Heiskell Braille and Talking Book Library. She will cover a brief history of the library, available resources, patron eligibility, and how to apply.
