Good evening,
My name is Mila Gasco-Hernandez and I am an Associate Professor of Public Administration and Policy and the Research Director of the Center for Technology in Government. Along with one of my PhD students, Ms. Soohyun Park, we are conducting a research project titled “Reconciling Accountability in Public Value Creation: Evidence from US Local Public Librarians”. This study aims to understand how librarians balance their accountability to different stakeholders and how they navigate the potential conflicts in the process of creating and delivering public value in the services they provide. Two research questions guide our study: (1) how do librarians manage diverse interests to determine the optimal composition of public services and (2) what are the potential influence of librarians' professional standards and its interactions or conflicts with the given mandates?
We are in the process of identifying public libraries in New York State that would be willing to participate in this study. At this point, we would like to conduct one-hour interviews with public library directors and public library outreach managers. I am writing to ask for your help in promoting our project through any listservs, newsletter, and social media you use to communicate with your public library members and encourage them to get in touch with us to participate in the study.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks a lot!!
Mila Gasco Hernandez
