Dear Colleagues,
The NCLA's Academic and Special Libraries Division is pleased to invite you to participate in an upcoming panel discussion and followed by a roundtable: "What Works?"
This is an in-person event being held on Friday, February 27th at 10:00 AM
at:
Light refreshments will be served (Pleas Register below).
The panel will include the findings of Leslie Wong Look's recent project, where she visited over 20 different academic, special and public libraries in order to observe innovative practices, successful services, and operational strategies. The goal of this
work was to identify ideas that could be adapted or implemented to enhance services, improve workflows, and better meet the needs of patrons.
This roundtable will provide an opportunity to share key observations from these visits and to engage in a collaborative conversation about which ideas may be most meaningful and feasible for libraries. Rather than presenting a fixed set of conclusions, this
will be an open forum for discussion, reflection, and idea exchange.
The project was guided by the following objectives, which will also frame our discussion:
-
Benchmark innovative services offered by other libraries
-
Evaluate space usage, including how physical spaces are being repurposed to meet evolving user needs
-
Explore technology integration and its impact on library services
-
Foster professional connections and collaborative thinking
-
Develop actionable recommendations for future consideration at NCC
I hope you will join us for this collaborative conversation as we think together about how these insights might help move the libraries forward. In order to best facilitate discussion, this event will be limited to 25 participants and held in person only.
No recordings will be available.
Thank you, and we look forward to your participation!
Best regards,
ASLD
