Hello!

Are you the first in your family to attend a four-year university in the United States? If so, we want to hear from you.

We are conducting a study to better understand the experiences, needs and strengths of  first-generation college students at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Your feedback will be used to help improve resources and support for students like you. At the end of the survey, participants also have the option of signing up for a follow-up focus group interview.

Who can participate?

You are eligible if you identify as a first-generation college student (meaning your parents or guardians have not earned a four-year college degree in the United States; even if your siblings have earned a four-year degree, you are still considered a first-gen college student).

What’s involved?
  • The Task: A brief online survey.

  • Time: Approximately 10-15 minutes.

  • Privacy: Your responses are completely anonymous.

This study has been reviewed and approved by the University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB). IRB Number: 16-26-0235

Why participate?

Aside from helping us build a better campus community for first-generation college students, you will have the chance to be part of a drawing for one of twenty $10 Amazon gift cards upon completion of the survey.
