Hi Chandni!

Wow, that is so exciting! Thank you for all the hardwork you put into this. On behalf of Learning Equality, I thank you immensely for helping us making Kolibri available in Nepalese.

Now, I need you to please send me your headshot and bio (about a paragraph long will suffice), so we can feature you on our website translator profile page.

Please note our website is being revamped and this page is currently under construction. So I'll prompt you when it finally goes live.

It was a pleasure getting to briefly know you, Chadni, and I hope we stay in touch. I really want to come visit Nepal!

We speak soon.

With my sincere gratitude,

Carine

Dear Brad,

Just to inform you, I am in sync with Carine regarding the translations. The crowdin platform is simple to use and the plus point is I can issue problems and questions through it as well. The members there helps me to clarify context which i don't understand and if I need further clarification I email Carine.

I will contact you all if I need anything else.

Warm Regards,

Hi Chandni,

I wanted to re-open this conversation up with Carine and Lauren on the email to see if you have any questions on the translation.  Is there something that they can help you with or give direction for you?  Any places where you have struggled so far?

Let us know.

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad, thank you for the introduction, this is really exciting.

Hi Chadni, it's lovely to e-meet you. I'm really happy to have you onboard contributing to Nepali translations on Kolibri.

I would just like to mention that regarding the use of Devanagari script or Roman Nepali, my recommendation is to use whichever alphabet you all think would be most accessible and beneficial to the vast majority of potential users of the platform.

Our goal with Kolibri is to break accessibility barriers to quality open source content and technology, hence, we ask all our translators to keep in mind not only accuracy but, most importantly, tone.

I would love to jump on a quick call with you, if possible, to go over CrowdIn together, further discuss tone and accessibility, and address any question you may have.

If you are located in Nepal, you are 12h45mins ahead of me in San Diego. Please let me know if a call tonight 9pm my time, your 9:45am Friday morning would work.

Alternatively, feel free to suggest any other time slots for tomorrow or other dates as of Tuesday, since we have a Public Holiday this Monday.

Thank you, once again, for contributing with us!

I look forward to your reply.

Warmly,

Carine

Namaste Brad,

Thanks for the attachment. I went through it and found that I have to work through Crowdin. I have signed up for that and I am eager to start working on this platform.

The question here is does the translation needs to be in a Devangiri Script for example (मेरो नाम चाँदनी ताम्राकार हो ) or in Roman Nepali (Mero naam Chandni Tamrakar ho) ??

Regards,

Hi Chandni,

As you know you have a task of translating the LE system into Nepali.  Instructions for this translation can be found in the attachment.  Looks like they will add your profile to the translation page of the LE website, thats pretty cool :)

Also CC'd on this email is Carine Diaz, who works at LE and would like to provide guidance on strategy and tone.  Please wait for her correspondence before diving in.  Per the attachment, this project takes an average of 25 hours.  I would rather this be completed correctly, let's have 6/14 be the goal of completing the translation.

Let me know if you have any questions.
