UPC users,

Due to an elevated danger of wildfires, the electrical power utility serving Lawrence Berkeley National Lab is implementing a "public safety power shutoff".  This will shutoff both the primary and backup servers providing the default UPC-to-C translation service used in Berkley UPC (BUPC).  This outage may last several days.

Users who rely on the default BUPC translator will experience significant compilation delays as upcc times-out twice before reaching the tertiary server.  Therefore, users who experience such delays this week are encouraged to pass
when invoking upcc.
Alternatively, one may set the UPCC_FLAGS environment variable to that same string.

Another email will be sent to this list when service has returned to normal.

UPC Users,

We believe all Berkeley UPC websites and services returned to normal operation by the end of the day yesterday, Monday October 14.  If you experience any lingering problems, please let us know.
