PG & E California is planning a massive power outage in Northern California starting Oct 9 12:01 AM PST lasting for several days.
This outage may affect JGI and IMG availability.

Update:
Email from JGI SysOps and NERSC.
"This public safety power shutdown is unprecedented for Berkeley Lab and for northern California.
PG&E has informed us that once power is turned off,
it will remain off until PG&E crews can inspect power lines and repair any damage,.
A process that can take days.
At this time, it is unclear when NERSC will be able to return to service.
We appreciate your patience in this unpredictable time."
Even if the news says power is back. It can still take several more days before JGI / IMG can resume normal operations.

Update:
NERSC status site https://nersc-status.lbl.gov/
Currently, IMG's web server is running on backup power to display the outage message.
IMG web site may go dark soon, no message or a blank page or a browser network timeout types of error.
As a reminder power may not be fully restored until the weekend.

Good news: PG&E has restore power.
BUT it is a slow process for us to turn everything on.

Power has been restored.
Some features are still not available:
eg JGI SSO - affecting IMG/MER logins
BLAST - server is very slow
top homologs - server is still down

JGI SSO is having some issues and it will not be running until Monday.
As a result, IMG/MER login will not be available until JGI SSO has be fixed.
