Hi,

I would like to make my metagenomic datasets public in IMGM/ER, so I can include link in manuscript.

In JGI portal for my dataset, under ADMIN, there is edit portal properties and “make public” button,  but just wanted to check is this the way to do this?

If so, there are 4 options for which database dataset is configured (e.g.
genome-db.jgi-psf.org ), but couldn’t find any user help explaining what is the difference between different formats.

Thank you.
Milica

Milica,

In order to make metagenome datasets public, you need to write to Amy (ima...@lbl.gov). You will be able to make your data public using the JGI Portal's interface, but this would be temporary since there is a job that monitors the congruity of permissions between metagenomes loaded on IMG and the data for which is correspondingly available through JGI Portals. This job will revert manual changes unless initiated by us.

For clarity, data downloaded through JGI Portals is only a copy of what is available through IMG.

Best,
Manoj

Correction: Victor Markowitz (vmmar...@lbl.gov) is handling non-JGI genome and metagenome releasing in IMG.
